In March 2016, the Anders Invest Evergreen Fund has gathered €8,5 million from 47 external entrepreneurial investors at first closing. The well-known Dutch entrepreneurs Frederik van Beuningen and Henk Willem van Dorp will have a seat in the Advisory Board.
During 2015 the management has invested around €1.0 million from own resources which brings the total fund size at €9.5 million. The central topics of the fundraising were; active support, a values-driven approach, a long term vision and the formation of a network of investors and enterprises. During the kick-off meeting on the 26th January, former Dutch prime-minister Jan Peter Balkenende and Aalberts Industries founder Jan Aalberts spoke of a strong new movement in the economy in which entrepreneurs have a long term responsibility towards employees, customers and society. In this movement Anders Invest is striving to take a leading position, and show that this will not have a negative impact on financial return.
The long term vision of the fund is expressed in the absence of an end-date and the active dividend policy. In the Netherlands there is hardly any fund operating with an evergreen structure. This structure guarantees that there will be no pressure on selling portfolio-companies at potentially suboptimal timing. The fund management will add value through her industrial experience and network. In addition several investors have expressed their interest in actively supporting portfolio companies by making their knowledge available and opening up their networks.
Gert-Jan Huisman, founder and CEO of Anders Invest is pleased about the opportunity to build a strong portfolio of technical companies: “Since the end of 2014, we have been actively building a broad pipeline of fitting investment chances, largely production companies. For 2016 we see a growing number of possibilities to do three or more investments of on average of €1.5 - €2.0 million. The management expects to grow in the coming 3 to 5 year to a €30 - 50 million fund size through several annual capital rounds.“
The Advisory Board of the fund is formed by Frederik van Beuningen and Henk Willem van Dorp. Van Beuningen is well-known for his investment fund Teslin, his role in government commissions on corporate governance and his strong preference for long term investing. Van Dorp is founder/CEO of van Dorp Installaties, one of the biggest Dutch technical installation companies. On short term the Advisory Board will be completed.
